Content Creation and You: Where to Start and How to Grow

Now, more than ever, making your own break or showcasing your talents for the world to see is easier to accomplish. However, as easy as it may seem to post videos of yourself, it is even harder to get any kind of recognition and attract a following. Here are a number of steps to help aspiring talent to translate their skills into actual talent.

The fundamentally basic and yet often overlooked point most individuals who are looking to get themselves out there is writing. This is not a point missed by any journalist or someone looking to get their thoughts organized and presented in a fun or serious manner. Writing is simultaneously simple and hard at the same time because it forces the creator to arrange their thoughts into something tangible and logical. It helps them build a script and plan out their future projects and keeps things flowing from blossoming ideas to finished ventures. If this part is going to be a struggle, it might help to take some advice from this writer.

The second aspect of figuring out the Do-It-Yourself nature of Youtube and other forms of social media is figuring out your “voice” or personality. Whatever that voice is, catering to the style of writing it requires is important to building it. Do you as a creator fancy yourself as funny or serious and is the content you are creating funny or serious.  If the words written in the script do not match the personality then the project will fall flat because it is either insincere on the grounds that the creator’s own personality does not mesh with the style kind of like Iggy Azailia in this scene from her video Black Widow.  That is a clear indication of personality not matching the written word (or even visuals at this juncture. She is supposed to look ready to kick butt, not bored out of her skull. Not the best Kill Bill tribute out there).

Third on this list is start off with simple projects and build to greater things. The adage of “keep it simple, stupid” applies here. If a creator goes off and tries to tackle all the big issues right of the bat and further encumbers themselves under editing assets which require tedious restructuring and rendering, then the project will never see the light of day. Keeping the production limited in the beginning is crucial to getting the creative motor starting and cruising.

Finally, never stop learning. Staying stagnant in this day and age if instant entertainment is going impede anyone looking to build and keep an audience. As each project is worked on try to add subtle changes which will keep the presentation fresh. See what works and ditch what does not. For any type of growth to occur on a channel or account there must growth in the individual.
Keep these points in mind along with a regular content schedule and the content produced will soon flourish for all to see.
